Parks Service Publishes Register of Twelve Parks and Reserves

The Parks Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published its register of parks and reserves. Twelve sites are entered in the register: six parks, from the fourteen hectares of Central Exchange Gardens to the 1,260 hectares of Ashcombe Forest, and six reserves protecting wetland, chalk grassland, heath, coast and a geological section. Together they extend to 3,094 hectares.

Every site in the register is open from today under the arrangements set out on the Parks and Reserves and Visiting pages of this site. The urban parks open from 07:00 to dusk, the commons, country and forest parks are open at all times, and the reserves are open from dawn to dusk. Fennimore Quarry, a geological reserve, is visited by guided tour only, and Kestrel Heath is closed each year from 1 March to 31 July to protect ground-nesting birds.

Three visitor centres open this month: the Ashcombe Forest Visitor Centre and the Longwater Wetland Centre on 12 September 2026, and the Eastfield Meadows Ranger Station on 19 September 2026. The register is maintained by the Service and will be amended as sites are added or their arrangements change. Corrections to an entry may be sent to contact@parks.gov.vin.
